All criminal cases start in the Magistrates Court. We are experts in representing persons who are due to appear at the Magistrates Court / Youth Court and have experience of all types of criminal cases. From public order offences all the way up to Murder cases.
We will guide you through any prosecution you may face, helping you obtain legal aid and offering value for money representation where it is needed.
If you plead not guilty:
We will help you prepare your case for trial , seeing witnesses on your behalf , helping them understand the court process and explain what is involved in appearing in court as a defence witness. We will take your detailed instructions by spending time with you. We will appear at court hearings for you , cross-examine the prosecution witnesses as well as making submissions to the Magistrates.
If you plead guilty:
We will mitigate on your behalf and explain to the Court how and why you became involved in the case. We will argue for the most lenient and appropriate sentence for you. We will advise you in relation to the sentencing procedure, the different sentencing options available and go through any pre-sentence reports and ensure any character references are presented in the correct format.
Funding:
Legal aid is available but is means tested and limited to those on lower incomes.
We offer competitive private client rates.
We can agree a fixed fee or you can pay by the hour.
